Reagan National Airport (DCA) is the closest airport to Washington, DC. It’s just outside the city in Arlington, Virginia, near the Pentagon and Crystal City, and it’s the most convenient of DC’s three airports. DCA is easy to reach on Metro via the Blue and Yellow lines at the Washington National Airport stop, and the Yellow line can have you downtown in about 20 minutes.
But if you have an early flight or land late, you might want to stay near the airport. I’ve stayed at plenty of DCA hotels, and honestly, some of them are a little dated. I’d recommend staying at some of the newly renovated, full service hotels for maximum comfort and the best service. Here are my top picks:
AC Hotel National Landing
The AC was fully renovated in 2025 (it used to be the Crystal City Marriott) and now has a modern look and a patio bar. It feels like the place to be instead of just a stay next to the airport. Some rooms have two beds or a sofa bed, which is great for a small family or for room to spread out. Bonus points for hard floors in the rooms. I always feel like carpet can get a little muggy. Westin Crystal City
The Westin Crystal City was just renovated in 2026, with updated rooms (with hard floors!) and public spaces. The renovation includes a brand-new restaurant, Stillwater & Stone, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, plus happy hour. It gives you an elevated space to unwind before or after a flight. Hyatt Regency Crystal City
The Hyatt Regency Crystal City is a reliable pick that’s regularly praised for its location and service, and it recently earned a 2026 Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice award. Rooms are comfortable, and there are multiple public spaces where you can unwind with a drink or just enjoy some space outside your room. Airport shuttle available.
Embassy Suites by Hilton Crystal City National Airport
The Embassy Suites is the go-to family pick for Hilton fans. Every room is a suite with a separate living area, a fridge, and a microwave, so there’s room for a small family to spread out. Free breakfast is also included. There’s also a complimentary evening reception for a drink after a travel day. It’s an older hotel, but the service is regularly highly rated. Residence Inn Arlington Capital View
I always love a Residence Inn for the space. This is another reliable pick for families or anyone who needs a little room to spread out. Free breakfast is included or you can use the little kitchen to make something from a grocery store. It’s also connected to the Renaissance Arlington Capital View, so you can walk next door for the restaurant and bar. Airport shuttle available.

Can I walk to the airport from a Crystal City hotel? Not really. Take advantage of a complimentary airport shuttle or call a ride share. Some reviews says the shuttles can run infrequently so check the hours and reliability at the front desk when you arrive.
Is there anything nearby to explore? The Pentagon City Mall, Arlington Cemetery, and Old Town Alexandria are all just a couple of Metro stops away. Old Town Alexandria has a variety of shopping and local restaurants if you have time to explore.
