Adams Morgan is a lively late-night spot with a long list of great bars. However, this neighborhood also offers cute residential streets, nice restaurants, and a lively daytime atmosphere. In this post, I’ll focus on a few options with good food deals and happy hour specials to help you get the most out of your budget in this neighborhood.

Adams Morgan is not directly Metro accessible, but is walkable from Columbia Heights (Green) and Woodley Park (Red). The Woodley Park Metro stop is across the Duke Ellington Memorial Bridge, which is freezing and windy in the colder months. Dress for the weather! Locals will also walk from the 14th and U Street area, but this might be a bit of a trek as a tourist.

Perry’s

Perry’s is a beautiful, upscale Japanese restaurant that regularly makes local best restaurant lists. You can enjoy drinks and bites for less during happy hour every day from 4 to 7 pm. Find deals on rail liquor, wine, sake, and beer. But what makes this happy hour extra special is the many food deals, including sushi, fried rice, loaded tots, fried shishito peppers, a shrimp burger, and more. These deals are available at the bar only, so get there early for a seat.

Roofer’s Union

Roofer’s Union is a casual spot with a nice rooftop bar. They offer deals on beer, wine, and a variety of house cocktails. Make it a meal with bites like hot wings, truffle fries, sliders, cauliflower bites, and more. Happy hour runs daily from 5 to 7 pm in the main dining room at both the bar and regular seating. On Tuesdays, get a lobster with potatoes and corn for 25. Reservations are recommended for Lobster Tuesdays.

The Diner

I have always loved The Diner for bites after a night out, but it’s a great option any time of day (open 24 hours!). They have inexpensive options any time of day, but for happy hour, find deals on beer, wine, cocktails, and boozy shakes. There are a few happy hour bites like chicken tacos, loaded tots, wings, and more. If you are looking for a meal, a two-egg breakfast, pancakes, omelets, and most other breakfast plates are under $15. Happy hour runs Monday to Friday from 4 to 7 pm.

Retrobottega

Retrobottega doesn’t have a traditional happy hour, but they do have $10 bar bites that are available all day. This cute Italian spot is a great option for something a little fancier. Bites include fried mozzarella, calamari, Polpette (meatballs), and more.

The Blaguard

The Blaguard is a casual neighborhood sports bar with a variety of specials. This spot can get very busy on the weekends or during a game. Go early in the week and check their Instagram for special events if you prefer a quieter visit. Happy Hour runs from 5 to 8 pm from Monday to Friday and extends to 10 pm on Wednesdays. Deals includes discounts on beer and rail drinks. Check out their daily food specials like half priced burger Monday, Taco Tuesday, $8 chicken sandwiches on Wednesday, and more.

The Federalist Pig

The Federalist Pig is beloved barbeque spot with reasonable prices anytime. If you visit for happy hour from 2 to 6 pm from Monday to Friday, you can get half priced empanadas, chips and queso, and loaded fried. They also have half priced beer pitchers of local brews and “one step” lunch platters with a meat and a side. There are additional lunch platter deals that come with a lemonade and sweet tea from 11:30 am to 2 pm from Monday to Friday.

The Imperial

The Imperial is an upscale spot that has been recognized by the Michelin Guide. Check them out for their unique happy hour from 5 to 7 pm Wednesday to Friday. For $49 a person, enjoy bottomless drinks including wine, beer, and select cocktails for 90 minutes plus build a snack plate with 3 bar snacks. Don’t need bottomless? Enjoy $12 cocktails, $11 wines, and deals on bar snacks.

Vegabond

Vegabond is a little closer to Dupont Circle than the main drag of Adams Morgan but still along 18th Street. This spot had beachy vibes in the middle of the city with a great rooftop. Happy hour is short – from 4 to 6 pm Monday to Friday – so make the most of it! Or visit from 4 to close on Sundays. Deals include house wines, beer, sangria, and $4 off house cocktails. Food deals include tacos, sliders, fries, and skillet esquites.
