Holiday Happenings
Head to the White House lawn to see the National Christmas tree and the mini state trees - one for each state and territory. For fewer crowds, visit during the day or on a week night.
The Capitol Christmas Tree is often less crowded than the White House but just as lovely. Plus, you can visit it after a late afternoon trip to the Botanic Gardens.
In December, head to the Botanic Gardens for Seasons Greenings. Enjoy an outdoor display with model trains, holiday plants, and DC monument displays made from plants.
Head to the Zoo from 5 to 9 pm nightly during the holiday season. Enjoy lots of animal themed lights and warm up in the cozy animal houses.
From Thanksgiving to January 22, enjoy light displays throughout Georgetown. These displays are generally not holiday themed but a fun way to see the neighborhood after dark.
