Tips to Avoid Crowds at Holiday Events

The National Christmas Tree is one of the most iconic sites during the holiday season. Consider visiting on a weeknight or during the day for fewer crowds. Plus, daylight means better selfies in front of the White House. 

Visit the National Christmas Tree during the day.

ZooLights gets very busy almost the entire season. For your best chance at fewer crowds, visit as early in the month as possible. Take metro to avoid issues parking.

Go to ZooLights early in December or early in the week.

The Capitol Christmas Tree is often less crowded than other landmarks but equally as beautiful. Save this for later in the month.

Many bars and restaurants put up decorations, feature hot drinks, and host special events to celebrate the season.  Two of my favorite spots are Metrobar and American Ice. 

Consider your neighborhood bar or restaurant for special events.

Look our for single weekend and smaller holiday markets like at the National Arboretum and the Heurich House Museum.
