Sky Meadows State Park is about a 90 minute drive from Washington, DC. It's perfect for hiking and picnics but comes alive in a special way at night.
One Saturday each month, join Sky Meadows for a special astronomy program at sunset. Learn space facts from experts before sunset - kid friendly!
Plan to arrive about an hour early to allow your eyes to adjust. Bring a picnic dinner and lawn chairs to enjoy on the lawn.
At sundown, hobby astronomers will point out constellations and stars with science facts and mythology. The sky changes with the seasons so stories change each time you go.
Bring your own telescope to get a closer look at the stars. And don't forget to dress warm - it gets chilly at night even in the summer!
