dLeña opened in 2021 in Mount Vernon neighborhood of DC and offers bottomless brunch on weekends.
Chef Richard Sandoval offers a modern approach to Mexican dishes. The restaurant celebrates “leña,” or firewood, and the nuanced flavors smoke brings to the food and drink.
The restaurant offers a cozy indoor dining room with wood décor but the firewood theme also carries to the shaded outdoor patio.

The menu is fairly small but this means every dish is carefully crafted. The staff will bring everything to try and you can order more of your favorites.
Small plates are shared among the table but dleña will size the portions based on how many people are in your party.
Plates start small and gradually become more hearty as the meal goes on. Enjoy dishes like tacos, elote, enchiladas, and more. This corn and shrimp enchilada was one of my favorites.
Save room for churros at the end of the meal drizzled with chocolate and caramel sauce.
