Shake Shack: Makes an Impact on Fans and the Environment
There are so many places in DC to grab a good burger! We’ve tried many around the area, but one of our favorites is Shake Shack. This burger spot set up shop in May 2011 near Dupont, but that’s not the only place you will find them now – they also have a stand inside Nationals Park and most recently, a shop on F Street. The Dupont and F Street locations are great, central spots to grab lunch during work or a meal while you enjoying the city after hours.
The Shake Shack burgers are made with meat that has been vegetarian fed and raised without hormones or antibiotics. They focus on clean energy and much of the store’s decor comes from recycled materials. Shake Shack is more than just tasty burger – it’s a place you can really feel good about.

The menu offers a wide variety of burgers and hot dogs. Our go-to item is a delicious cheeseburger! You can dress it up with lettuce, tomato, bacon, or even the special Shake Shack sauce. Shake Shack also has a vegetarian “Shroom” Burger with all the fixings. Don’t forget the fries!

But what Shake Shack is really known for is the unforgettable shakes. Shakes come in a variety of popular flavors like chocolate, vanilla, caramel, black and white, strawberry, and peanut butter. Our favorites are chocolate and peanut butter. You can also add malt or enjoy one of the specialty concretes (slightly thicker than the shakes). The concretes have fun names that play on the city’s famous landmarks. DC concretes include the President Sweet, Jefferson’s Jam, and Washington Monu-Mint. If you’re traveling, check out the local concretes other cities have to offer!
These burgers and shakes are very popular especially during lunch hour (read: all afternoon). To avoid the lines, we recommend grabbing an early lunch, going for dinner, or visiting on the weekend. If you head to Shake Shack at Nationals Park, we’d recommend heading to the stadium early – these guys are always a popular choice for Nats fans! If you are just looking for a shake, jump in the special C-line at any location for cold items only.
