Jungle Themed Mini Golf in Herndon, Virginia

Update: Perils of the Lost Jungle sadly closed in 2015 after 35 years of business.

Happy fall Day Trippers! The weather is cooling off and we’re all starting to break out the sweaters and pumpkin flavored coffee creamer.  We have traded our poolside flip flops for pumpkin patch friendly sneakers. However, we haven’t given up on all our summer time activities!

Mini golf is one of those popular summer activities that can be better in the fall because it isn’t so hot outside.  There are tons of great miniature golf courses in the DMV but one of our most recent discoveries is Woody’s Golf Range. Through elaborate decorations and unique course challenges,  Woody’s Golf Range creates a unique, jungle adventure themed mini golf in Herndon appropriately named Perils of the Lost Jungle.

When we arrived at Perils of the Lost Jungle, we paid and received a passport to hold while we waited for our turn to mini golf. This mini golf course is very popular so sometimes there is a short wait. However, the line is decorated with artifacts and safari stories that we read while we waited. Indiana Jones themed music and radio stories  can be heard from the line.  We thought this was a fun way to entertain visitors and set the mood for a jungle adventure.

When we got to the front of the line, we choose a putter and golf ball. Then we were ready for our jungle mini golf adventure! The course is covered with trees, shrubbery, and wooden walls with large obstacles like tombs, tiki huts, caves, and tunnels. This makes it difficult to see the entire course which creates an element of surprise. Many of the obstacles are positioned directly on the course so visitors can walk through them.  While the course is full of surprises and elaborate obstacles, we don’t think the course is too scary or challenging for young mini golfers.

One of our favorite obstacles is a large tomb with eery music.  This stop requires visitors to hit the golf ball through the tomb  before the door closes!  This stop is particularly exciting  because visitors must walk through  the tomb to continue moving through the course. Watch out for the mummy!

Woody’s Golf Range also has indoor and outdoor areas to rent for birthday parties and social events.
